You know when you book a holiday and it feels like it’s forever away and then suddenly you’ve got less than two weeks to get ready for it? Yep, that’s us right now. A week on Wednesday and we’ll be starting our trip to Tokyo. It’s been a long time coming – it’s our 5th wedding anniversary and much delayed honeymoon in one, so you’d think we’d be ready, but NOPE. Not even a little bit. No itinerary (I like schedules, sue me), no prep done to see us through the 12 hour flight, nothing. I don’t even have a suitcase! Minor panic has been settling in so I’m taking my mind off all the things I need to do and posting an update!
Laura and Duncan were married at Peeble’s Hydro in the Scottish Borders and the whole day was just perfect, even if there were a few little hitches such as Storm Callum deciding to show up uninvited. Going outside was a bit of a no-no for the whole day but luckily the Hydro has plenty of space and beautiful rooms to hang out in. Even better, Laura was determined to get the beautiful autumn colours of the season in her photos and gamely went and pulled on some boots so that we could brave the storm for ten minutes. Armed with multiple towels courtesy of the hotel and several umbrellas we managed to get some gorgeous portraits of the two of them in the hotel grounds. My shoes didn’t quite make it through the session (I simply don’t see the puddles when I’m running around looking for The Spot) but thanks to an in-house drying room and some flexible footwork at the hand dryers in the bathroom I made it through to the dancing with dry toes.
Highlights from the day include the beautiful scrapbook Laura’s Maid of Honour made for her (such a lovely idea!) and the expressions on people’s faces when the fire alarm went off just as Duncan started to say his vows at the ceremony (it was quickly switched off and all was well!). Here is a small taster of their day!
