Last Saturday Joey and I got to share in a beautiful day at Ednam House Hotel in Kelso for the wedding of Charlotte and Joe. This was such a happy and relaxed wedding, with lots of little touches that I loved!
The venue itself was beautiful, with gorgeous light filled rooms, a bright and grand ceremony room (lovingly decorated by Sitting Pretty Events) with views out to the stunning lawn that was perfect for the garden games from Pretty Rustic Events that Charlotte and Joe had arranged for their guests (it’s always a good idea to provide some entertainment for your guests, especially for that lull between the ceremony and reception where you’ll be busy having your photos taken!)
As is so often the case with weddings, the day went by in a flash! I first ensconced myself in a room in order to capture all of the pretty details Charlotte had put aside for me (shoutout to the beautiful flowers supplied by Stems; they were just stunning and people were swooning over them all day) before I made my way to the bridal preparations. I adored the personalised robes everyone got to wear, right down to sweet little Maisie with her mini one.
The ceremony was simple yet highly personal, with Charlotte and Joe reading their own vows to each other and Maisie occasionally checking in while her parents were married. What I especially liked was the additional entrance to the ceremony room that went via one of the main streets in Kelso; being led by a piper, it was a treat for people to see the bridal party. One thing I never get tired of is seeing members of the public get all giddy and happy at spotting a bride on her way to being married! Afterwords we all headed out to the manicured lawn for their champagne reception, photos and some more champagne before we were invited back indoors for the speeches. The evening was one of those magical ones; after a quick flash of rain the sun was beaming down and setting everything to that perfect glowy light that I love. Because the reception doors opened straight onto the lawn, guests spilled out naturally to enjoy the evening before the dance. It was a pleasure to see Fahrenheit Function Band after meeting them just a few weeks before at the wedding of Minna and Greg. They move effortlessly from contemporary music to a traditional Ceilidh and back again, and honestly I’m so glad my camera can compensate for hand shake, because I can’t help myself having a wee dance as well!
I hope you enjoy this little preview of the day!
